Jinger Gottschall, PhD

Dr. Jinger Gottschall is the Director of Sports Research at New Balance. Years and years ago, she graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with her doctoral degree in integrative physiology focused on uphill & downhill running. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory School of Medicine studying the neural control of locomotion before accepting a position as a professor in kinesiology at The Pennsylvania State University. Her academic career was a mix of basic research on gait transitions and applied research in exercise prescription. Concurrently, Jinger founded and co-owned FITOLOGY, a group fitness and research studio. After over a decade in State College, Dr. Gottschall transitioned into science positions within industry. Prior to New Balance, she led the programs at Les Mills International and Wahoo Fitness. In addition, Jinger coaches endurance athletes and has a passion for understanding the interactions between training, nutrition, sleep, and stress.
