Michelle Barrack, PhD, RD, CSSD, FACSM

Michelle Barrack, PhD, RD, CSSD, FACSM is an Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at California State University, Long Beach and a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. Dr. Barrack has a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University and a PhD in Nutritional Biology from the University of California, Davis. She has published research on topics addressing adolescent athlete bone health, bone stress injury, the Female and Male Athlete Triad, dietary supplements, and nutrition for endurance runners. She previously worked as a Team Dietitian for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of Athletics. In 2023, Dr. Barrack was awarded the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Excellence in Research Award and in 2021, she received an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)- Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) Young Investigator in Sports Nutrition award. Dr. Barrack also currently serves as President of the Female and Male Athlete Triad Coalition. As a former NCAA Division I cross-country athlete, she appreciates the translation of scholarly research to practical recommendations for athletes to optimize their nutrient intake, health and performance.
